Smart Alert question

I was trying out the smart alert motion setting on my s3, i have it turned on, but when I miss calls and text it doesn't vibrate when I pick it up. Do I have to have my phone face down for it to work??? Not really sure why it doesn't notify me......

Smart alert works fine on mine, vibrates when I pick it up. Make sure you have motion enabled (on). I also have the LED set to blink when I have missed notifications, but that being a separate setting, I can't imagine it affects the smart alert.

I've never gotten Smart Alert to work on my Sprint S3, either.
