Smart Switch crashes during backup

My N5 has really struggled since Nougat update (though I did factory reset after update) and unfortunately I'm going to have to try another reset. I was planning to use smart switch to backup/restore, but when I try the backup it will freeze when it gets to 100% and then the app crashes. I'm on Mac and I've never had trouble with smart switch before. I've tried 4-5 times over the last month and recently uninstalled smart switch and then reinstalled but I have the same issue. I have Mac OS 10.11.6.

Anyone else experiencing this issue with smart switch? Thanks!
