Hi everybody! Some of my friends gave me a LG G Watch for my birthday but I have some doubts on it, in particular on its performance and usability. I thought about giving it back to Amazon and then get a Moto 360 (First Gen.) or a Sony Smartwatch 3 by adding 60/70 euros to the original cost of the G Watch. Do you think it is a good idea or is the one the gave me good enough to keep? Which are the main differences between these three (and maybe others under 200 €)? I'd like to stress the fact that the negative impression I have is due to my reading that the G watch was the first of this kind of technology and now considered "old". Please tell me if this is just a mere prejudice and whether this aspect should be taken into consideration or not. Thank you so much for your time and patience!

Well it is about the same as the 360,functionality wise (performance). No hrm though

Well I haven't used the g watch but from the hardware it uses I believe it would probably be better than the original 360. The 360 uses an outdated TI processor which is known not to have held up well over time with the updates whereas the g watch uses standard snapdragon 400 that pretty much every other Android wear smart watch uses. From a hardware standpoint you should be fine the real concern would be how long lg continues to support it given how many newer watches they have on the market. If you want the best inexpensive watch out there I would recommend the Zenwatch 2 it's only $150 in the states but I don't know about over there.

Thank you for your replies. I'm not interested in heart rate monitor and the Zenwatch costs over 200 euros here. What about the Sony Smartwatch 3 compared to the LG G Watch? Thank you again

Sorry don't know anything about the SW3 except that it is the only one that has integrated gps so far and it's processor isn't specified.

Do you think it is worth adding 70 euros to get this one? I mean is the integrated WiFi and GPS so important?
And what about the Pebble Time?

That's entirely up to you, I don't know your use cases so I don't know if those features would add any value for you. As for my uses it wouldn't be.

Thank you for your suggestion. One last thing : what's the advantage of having the integrated WiFi?

Well it allows for the watch to connect to a WiFi network if the watch gets out of range from your phones Bluetooth in order to use that connection to receive notifications. In my experience it's fairly slow to do so but that might just be my experience. My original Zenwatch didn't have it but my new 360 does and it hasn't made much of a difference for my use.

OP, I've owned the G Watch and upgraded to the Sony.

Chip set speed is about the same.

Battery is slightly better on the Sony.

G Watch is easier to charge in the cradle.

G Watch's overall display is better but useless in bright sunlight; Sony's display is more muted but has the BEST ambient mode in Android Wear so far. Great in direct sunlight.

G Watch you can use any strap; Sony needs their custom stuff and or a holder kit...it is easier to get a loan from a bank with bad credit than to find these Sony accessories.

Simply put, you may be better off saving those 70 euros towards a Gen 3 Android Wear device. I like the Sony and am happy I upgraded, but Sony's after care support isn't great with the watch.
