Hey,

So I upgraded to the TBolt today, and I'm having some trouble with texting my friends who are on 3G.

They're telling me that my texts are not coming in from my normal cell number but rather from my IMSI, on their phone.

Anyone else having issues like this?

Is there a way to fix this?

Testing my wife's VZW iPhone 4 doesn't seem to have the problem. Try giving a ring to tech support.

I am having SMS problems also. Only certain people are receiving them from me. I can get messages from them and then reply, but their names aren't showing up, just their numbers. Can anyone direct me to the tech # ?

Many have reported (in other threads) that a battery pull (keep it out for 30 seconds) does the trick. I didn't have this problem, as the girl at the VZW store had to do a pull to get my phone to lock a data signal. Won't hurt to try...

This reminds me a lot of when the OG Droid came out; There were a few people in my phonebook that I could not text or receive texts from, with no apparent explanation. It was fixed with an OTA update.

I'd imagine Verizon is testing the Bolt's first OTA update as we speak.

Remember... do not accept any OTAs at this time unless you want to jeopardize your chances for root already!

Any OTA may break available root exploits.

I had this problem for a few hours after getting my ThunderBolt. I rebooted and from then on everything worked fine. I don't know if it was the reboot that actually fixed it or if the servers just needed more time to sync up, but all is well now.

SMS doesn't show contact info.

Both my Husband and I had this problem out of the box yesterday. Linking contacts and a battery pull fixed the sync and txt issue...

Hope that helps...

Yeah I had the same problem when I first had mine. Got a lot of who is this replies. I pulled the battery for 30 seconds and then it went back to my normal number again.

Battery pull trick worked for me too, however I wonder if it's going to revert back somehow.

i had the same problem but i found the solution.
basically you have to make sure whenever you are sending out a text msg u need to put the "1" before the number u are texting. that means that all those contacts you have saved u will need to go thru every individual one to edit & make sure there is a "1" in front. afterwards do a soft reset by taking the battery out & restarting the phone. dreadful task since i had
300+ contacts but it worked. the reason for the "1" causing the problem is that the 4G network is rather new & its not recognized/ doesnt register with the recipients' carrier.
