sms not clearing since update

Since the last Android auto update all my text messages do not clear after I listen to them. Instead, now I have to listen to ever message each person has sent since I plugged in, in order to get to the new one.

I have tried 3 sms apps to see if it was the sms app, but all do the same.

Anyone having a similar issue? Any fixes?

I'm pretty new to Android Auto, but I noticed this same behavior the last couple days (and it wasn't an issue prior).

I have this issue lately too using the google "messenger" app in play store. I recently switched to the "messaging" app that comes w/ gapps but I haven't had a chance to test if it fixes anything.

I tried Hangouts, messaging, and Textra and all do it. Also, I tried reinstalling AA and no resolve either. It's extremely frustrating as I use it regularly and it forces me to unplug and plug in all the time which is a hazard and defeats the purpose.

Prior to this I was very happy with messaging

Do you find that replying to a text via AA effects the issue at all? The times I've noticed the messages not clearing is when I've responded via AA to the first one and the 2nd text (in reply to me) gets read in addition to the first. (if that makes sense)

I noticed a setting when updating my moto 360. in settings/notifications/notification access there is a toggle to allow android auto to (among other things) dismiss notifications. I think this may be the key and will test on commute home today.

I thought it was just me...did the notification thing work ? I have an S6 Edge Plus. It worked great for a while, then this....I can't figure it out.

For me, just clicking the box in notifications did not work as it would "unclick" every time I plugged the phone into the car and AA launched. I just rolled back to the previous version of AA and I'm going to test that to see if the notifications box will stay on this time.

I don't have an option in my application manager to roll back to a previous version unfortunately. I have tried to uninstall and reinstall, forget the car and relink, but none of those obviously worked.

I rolled back by installing an older AA apk. It didn't work. When I connected it to the car, it went to playstore and updated itself. That said, I didn't have the bug yesterday after doing all that. More testing is needed but I sent a lot of texts on the commute home last night and didn't have any of the replies read more than once.
