sms NOTIFICATION PROBLEM!!!

i just bought the HTC mytouch and for some reason my phone is not telling me when i recieve a text messege i have to go to my messeges just to see if i have one someone help

Open the Messages app, click Menu, then Settings, then Notifications and check the box. You can set the tone, vibration, etc.

i seem to have everything checked and right. but still nothing

Try other SMS app (like goSMS) and test if you can replicate the issue.
