SMS privacy setting or app?

Hi folks. New here. I need help finding a great app or Droid setting that will make SMS conversations private. I really dislike SMS notifications popping up on my phone and I prefer being as discreet as possible. Any suggestions?

Turn off notifications in the SMS app.
