If you open your messaging app then hit menu-settings then under received messages select notification sound and just select which sound you want to use. Then do the same in your gmail app.

thanks man...ive been searching some threads and all of the older threads were saying this wasnt possible that u need a 3rd party app...guess it was updated

....was just thinking....is there anyway to have a notification sound for Friend Stream? if no, is that the reason why people still get the Facebook app?

Is there some way to change the notification sounds? The only thing I found to change was the ringtone but it doesn't let you select a different text/mms/email sound. Do I need an app or what?

did u bother reading this thread?

You go into the settings for your respective app (txt/email) and change the settings for notification sound. Like it was stated above.

Let me be clear: I want to import my own sound for those, much like I did with my ringtone. The ringtone is easily changed because, well, there's the "New Ringtone" button at the top but it is nowhere to be found for the notifications and I'm stuck with 20 boring choices I don't want.

That's what I meant.

Nevermind, found out how.

In the SDCard create a folder named Media. Then inside that create a folder named Audio and then inside that create a folder named Notifications. Insider that folder place your files and then you can select non-stock notification sounds.

Actually, you could have just created folders named "ringtones" "alarms" & "notifications" for your sounds, you don't need to nest folders like that to get them to show up. Also in your first post, you didn't mention you wanted to add your own, just change them.

I realize I wasn't clear. And I didn't know it sought them out like that, I just saw where one guy copied over his folder from his X and had it work and that was the location tree it followed. Oh well, problem solved.
