SMS Text Messages Disapeared

I just went to answer a new text message that arrived a few minutes ago and noticed the history was gone. Answered the message then went into Messages app. All my conversions are gone. SMS and MMS gone. So, I went to settings to check to make sure I didn't have it delete data and of course, its unchecked. Searched Google and turns out this might be common. The messages are not extremely important, but this SHOULD NOT HAPPEN. My best guess its a corrupt database and the phone just goes and re-creates the SMS/MMS database.

Has anyone have this happen on their ThunderBolt?

Woah, apparently this is a known issue with Android:

I used to have this problem when I had my OG Droid, I just downloaded SMS Backup & Restore from the market and set it to back up my messages every night.

Happened to me and one of my co-workers last week. I was a bit annoyed becasue I lost some pretty cool picture messages that I hadn't gotten a chance to save before it happened.

This happened to me last week. But the deal is, I'm using Handcent, and at the bottom, it reads 760 messages sent. That's nowhere near the amount of sent messages in the threads I have open. Where are these messages?
