Snapchat Front Camera pixelated quality and "video recording failed" message

I have a Sony Xperia M phone, it is an Android smartphone. I have never had a problem with Snapchat but just a couple of weeks ago I launched the app and tried to record a video using the front camera but a message appeared on the screen saying "video recording failed" and instead took a picture. Once it had taken a picture, I noticed the quality looked different and pixelated. I then launched my normal camera app on my phone and switched on my front camera to discover that it was completely normal, not pixelated at all, so this front camera problem only occurs when using Snapchat.

If anyone has any ideas on what could be causing this or any solutions you know of, please do let me know because I love using my front camera on Snapchat to share what I'm doing with my friends.

Thank you!
Holly :)

i have the same problem with the same phone around the same time it happened to you
has no one figured anything out yet???

My sister has the same phone and she has the same problem too. This means that Snapchat is having an issue with our specific handset models! How annoying.

Check settings for quality and/or if your bandwidth is low, also the quality will be. To test, try lowering your quality if you have low bandwidth just to confirm your problem. Hope it helps.

Not with the new update buddy...I have same phone and same problem, could you give us another solution?

I have a friend who owns an iPhone 5 and she consistently has higher quality Snapchats, at both front and rear cameras compared to my Galaxy Note 3. It's always less grainy. I don't like to accuse Snapchat of being biased against Android, but if a THREE year old iPhone can produce better err, Snaps than even a brand new Nexus 5X (I've seen and heard horror stories of exactly that,) what chance the cheap and old Xperia M?
