So far I love my phone. First Android phone I haven't wanted to root!

I've had a long love/hate relationship with Android. My first Android phone was a MyTouch 3G on T-Mobile, quickly replaced by the original Motorola Droid. I've had several othre Android phones since then, as well as a long term relationship with Windows Phone 7 (got sick of Android, which wasn't fixed IMO till 4.0). Most recently I had a Note for 2 months while I waited for an upgrade and the release of the S4 and HTC One (was considering the G Pro too, but decided not). Well I went with the One and it is fantastic! Hands down the best Android phone I have ever had the pleasure of using. This is the first phone I have had no desire to root what so ever. The only thing it was missing was notification settings toggles, which was completely addressed by the app "Power Toggle". I like the launcher, no need to replace it (something I couldn't say for my Note). Notification shade and launcher were the only two things I had my Note rooted for (Nova handles widgets better with root and the Samsung notification shade was terrible looking and you couldn't customize the toggles). There is not one single thing I want my One to do that it can't. I think that if I had gone with the S4 I still would have rooted it simply because TouchWiz is still ugly and Nova still works better with root. Will I root my One someday? Probably. I unlocked the bootloader just in case I decide to.

Congrats on the new HTC One. You got ya a good phone and it seems like you have a firm grip on things but if you need any help just ask.

I completely agree with you JD, I upgraded from an EVO 3D and after a while with that phone I was in need of Rooting the phone, It just worked 100% better. Though with the One, I will probably forgo rooting the phone since everything is smooth and exactly what I wanted. True I would like the functionality of re-arranging the home screens and small minor things, but I think most likely these things will probably be addressed in the next update. (hopefully) Though I would be inclined to see what roms will become available for the phone and what functionality it will open up for it.

I like to root all Android phones because I need certain apps but this is one that I'm satisfied with the Stock ROM and launcher at the moment. I usually put a different ROM or fire up Nova as soon as I get it. Haven't felt the need to thus far. I really just want a Sense based ROM with added features and I'm sure that will come.

I agree..best android phone I've ever laid eyes and hands on.
