I know a ton of you are enjoying this phone but this phone is weak IMO. I was excited to get it but now it will go back. In terms of feel my droid X walks all over this. The keyboard is crap and laggy. I find myself having to delete and retype because it cannot keep up with my speed and I don't even type all that fast. The droid X felt so much snappier and polished then this thing. 3G in my area is about 1.5Mbit and LTE is only about 5Mbit so it's not even a huge thing anymore. I don't get any of those speeds many of you post up. Battery life is HORRIFIC. I unplugged at 10am and by 4:30pm it was down in the 30% or so. I just know for me, ill be returning this phone and getting my money back and reactivating my droid x.

P.S. Did any of you experience that text message reply number bug?

I love this phone and battery life hasn't been terrible. I did however, experience the text message problem. Instead of my phone number it should my IMSI number. I have no idea why it did this, but after I reset it by taking the battery out it was fine.

I didn't. But I had removed and reinstalled my SIM and battery (as the "fix" suggests, I think) before I even knew there was a bug. So I guess that's why. I checked mine after I read about it and it was correct.

About the laggy keyboard... I'm baffled. Truly, mine doesn't do that at all. I dunno... maybe it depends if you're using it in an app or something. I've used it in all the normal stock rom stuff without issue. And even in a few apps I've purchased (Officesuite Pro, Astro) without any problems.

I use the gingerbread keyboard from market, it works great. I do think that HTC stock keyboard lags a little not a big fan of it for that reason. I love the gingerbread keyboard its fast, responsive and typing on it is a breeze.

Same deal with me on the text messaging issue...

I have mixed feelings about my TBolt. I am holding off on rooting and getting rid of the bloatware because I want to demo the Samsung Droid Charge.

Before I got this phone, I used a Nexus S on AT&T for about a month, and I absolutely loved it. I think the Nexus S is a better phone than the ThunderBolt in terms of performance, and that's probably due to the stock Android.

The battery life on my Nexus was AWESOME, I routinely got through an entire day consisting of a few hours of music, playing Bubble Breaker on subway rides, and texting without having to recharge the battery. This comes with an asterisk, though, because I was on AT&T's EDGE.

I like this phone, but the battery life (though it has been getting better) is poor enough for me to consider returning and getting the Samsung. I briefly considered getting the Sprint Nexus S 4G, but the reason I am switching from AT&T is because their poor coverage in New York City (where I live) is well documented, and I have little reason to believe Sprint is any better.

So, I kinda agree... I like the TBolt, but I am somewhat disappointed. The thing that befuddles me is that there is SOMETHING wrong with EVERY phone. You'd think that after making so many phones, HTC would know what works and what doesn't. The Power button issue annoys the crap out of me, and I don't understand why, after the EVO had well documented battery issues, HTC gives the TBolt a 1400mAH battery... A DECREASE from the EVO. Makes 0 sense.

If you like Moto, I guess you should hold out for their LTE device?

Interesting, Maybe I'll give it a try...

Sorry to hear that. Plenty of threads containing problem solving. The battery problem is an easy fix if you take the time to read around.

I wouldn't trade this phone in for anything. My wife has the X and it looks and feels like a cardboard toy phone after having the Bolt in my hands. After tooling around with the Bolt for an hour, she plans on returning her X for the it before her 14 days are up.

Good luck!

The Motorola Atrix on AT&T is having battery issues as well so I don't see the Bionic having better battery life since the Atrix and Bionic (internally) are almost the same.

These threads are useless.

As useless as your comment or more?

I am trying the gingerbread keyboard and it is by far better then the stock one. I already read over the "how to make the battery better" but half those things are taking away the basic functionality of the phone, like no vibrate when a call comes, really?

Glad to know I am not the only one mixed on this phone.

Coming from an X, it is understandable the HTC doesn't "feel" like a major upgrade. It just isn't. However, coming from a small screen or a slower device 2.1 or prior, it would be worth it. I have had my X, and just love it hacked the way I like it. The TB is a great phone though. Is the DROID bionic here yet ;)

Lets stay on topic here :)

You get 14 days to return so I would keep it until then and return after if you still don't care for it which is fine. I can get at least 12 hours of moderate to heavy use using a Seidio 1600 battery. I keep my screen brightness down and limit syncing on most programs. Make a few more adjustments before you return it you may change your mind.

I don't think threads are worthless.
It's great to hear the other side of things.
It's all about what you feel comfortable with.
If you feel that the droid X is the device for you then great.
I had the Dinc and when my father was due to upgrade he chose the Dinc over the X? Why? Size of the device. It's all preferences and it's good to know that we have so many choices as opposed to other systems.

It's useless because you want to ditch the phone already without giving it a 14 day shot.

I certianly wont be returning the TB coming from a storm 1 my only quirk at this point is the screen brightness in sun light today I tried to take pic at the beach and waves with the son off to my right around 1100 am in bright sun, even after turning up the brightness to 100% I could barely see the screen as picture was taking and I was standing in a gazebo had turn around in shade to check picture and still hard to see.

I purchased the extended battery yesterday, charged it, bump charged it and have been using it moderately all day. 14 hours later and I still have 50% charge. It is bulky, but I am so much happier with it now.

I would have to disagree with this statement completely, I have both phones and the battery life compares to the iPhone 4 at least for me.
