Just got my first ever alert in the whole life of my HTC EVO 3D (had it for over a year) and came across this thread via google search. Tornado warning for the next 15 minutes, but after searching a few weather sites, nothing is being reported in my area? Wierd false alarm I guess.

If the results were actually valid, I would NOT want to turn them off on my phone. But since this was a false alarm, I may consider turning them off if they continue.

I got my first Amber Alert on my phone yesterday here in STL....the thing went nuts lol. My parents both came looking for me saying "my phone just went crazy making sounds it said something on the screen but I chose Dismiss just to make it stop...wtf was that??". I had to show them how to find it in Messages.
Apparently it startled a lot of people...the local news stations all had 5 min stories about the phones going off (and 10 seconds about the actual amber alert).

A communication channel you MUST have open at all times. Because something terrible might happen and only Big Brother can help us proles.

This is how 1984 style government starts. Drones now fly over the USA and somehow have the right to record (spy) on anything they see. Look for thousands and and thousands more coming to a sky near you, Johnny US Citizen. Thanks to recently passed legislation.

Does ANYONE EVER read ANYTHING? However, I did read your response and THANK YOU. What app will substitute for the message app? The idea that I need to receive Presidential apps and cannot turn it off is offensive to me.
