So, I currently have service for me and my wife through Sprint... I have an EVO and she has a Hero and I know she's a bit frustrated with the sluggish performance of the device.

I get my $150 bonus on November 1st -- I obviously want to still stick with an Android phone, so I was thinking about getting an EVO 3D to replace my EVO and activating the EVO on my wife's line (hopefully) without incurring any charges.

Is the EVO 3D still one of the top performing (keyboardless) phones in terms of hardware for Sprint? Any other suggestions on good combinations or ideas for a switcharoo?

I am very satisfied with my EVO 3D. I haven't regretted my choice for one moment.

Really your best bet would be to go to the Sprint store and just mess around with the devices you're interested in. Good luck! :)

Like CarrieK mentioned, I am also very satisfied with my 3D - first Android phone. The "Best" device is a personal question based on your needs. As she mentioned, go to a Sprint store and test drive each device to see what you like and fits your needs. If you like the OG Evo, the 3D is a hell of a device! You won't really go wrong with any of the newer phones as they all are similarly spec'd.

Just to clarify, I didn't ask if it was the "best", rather the "top performing." That is, are there any other dual-core phones in Sprint's arsenal, memory and storage-wise, are there any comparable phones?

I'm honestly afraid to start researching this -- the last time I did, I spent three months obsessing about phones and dropped too much cash into accessories and other things I really didn't need... I think it's an OCD thing. ;)

Its a great device! If you like Sense then I would say go for it. Also keep in mind the iPhone 4S is coming out in just 2 weeks. Really depends on what your looking for.

This past weekend when I was shopping for an upgrade to another of my lines, I checked out the SGS2. It is a very nice phone, but personally I like the EVO 3D better. The SGS2 was no faster or more responsive than my EVO 3D. I ended up getting a Nexus S 4G. Was $200 cheaper and since I already had the EVO 3D, just didn't see the need to spend the extra money. If I had been shopping for my main line I would have chosen the EVO 3D.

Thanks, guys... I'm honestly just looking for blazingly fast response. Not a fan of qwerty keyboards, so outside of that, I just need the essentials: wifi, bluetooth, tethering and hotspot capabilities.

It is absolutely one of the best - especially if you root it and put on a custom ROM. I notice that you are running CM. They are best testing the 3D version now and from the thread on XDA people are loving it. BYW...I know about the OCD thing as I did the same thing before moving from BB to the 3D. :)
