...and I'm wondering what the best way to make my new phone like my old phone is? I'm not rooted. I have SMS Backup/Restore to migrate all my text messages, and I have Astro to backup all my apps (I have several sideloaded) and reinstall, but what is so damn time consuming is setting up all my screens, widgets, application settings, etc...

Does anyone know of a way or an app that will make my new phone just like my old phone? Ringtones, app settings, widget placement, etc...?

I'm glad to finally have an acceptable replacement (this is my 4th "Like New" replacement phone, the first 3 were garbage that must have been certified by an infant), now I just want to avoid spending 3 hours transferring everything.

From what I understand, MyBackup will do most of what you need. It still requires root to backup app data, though.

Edit: Since it says that the trial only works on one device, you may have to pay for the Pro version in order to restore everything on the new Bolt.
Can anyone confirm this?

I have Launcher Pro as my launcher and I have it backed up to my SD card...everytime I get a replacement phone and hit "restore" it restores my widgets and screens...dont know what to tell you about ringtones since they are on your sd card.

This may not be AS quick as you are hoping, but if you are going to do it manually, here are some tricks since you're not rooted...

1. Use the Android SDK to take screenshots of all of your home screens so that you can just look at them on your computer while setting them up on your phone again. It'll go five times quicker than setting them up by memory.
2. Make sure your old phone is set to back up your settings/information to Google. Things such as apps (from the Market), some personal settings, WiFi passwords, and even your chosen ringtone should be restored to the new one. Some of these might not. I'm going on experience with flashing my phone (part of the rooting process) and having it restore all of those. But since you're going to a completely separate device, some may, some may not.
3. As long as all is set up with the auto-backup with Google, after you power your new phone back on and sign into your Google account, let your phone sit for about 15 minutes. You may find that you have a lot less to re-setup than you'd think.

If taking screen shots isn't an option for you, you can create a Word Document with your screen settings written out. This is what I've done, saved a copy to SD card and sent it off to Dropbox in case my SD are is unreadable for any reason.

Using Appbrain, you can easily install all your apps. Google will take care of contact and calendar syncing.

Make sure you have app data backed up within the apps and also on Astro File Manager.

Can you elaborate on this please? I have Astro, and have backed up all my apps. How do you backup app data?

The contacts and calendar syncing I'm not worried about, that's done with google and exchange. I have 7 email accounts....stuff like that. Setting all those up is a PITA.

I'd like to somehow back all that up and, and restore it all on the new phone.

Also when you flash a rom the trial won't work as it will count the device as a new one.
