Hey everyone. Just joined the forum. I initially joined because my brother's LG Optimus S didn't have the settings app/widget after a botched OTA update to VD. Was thinking rooting would help, but I ended up finding out about the LG Updater tool/utility while reading a rooting guide and used that to patch it up instead. However, I also have an LG Optimus S and was really intrigued by the idea of rooting and flashing and whatnot. All I really want to do is run Gingerbread and the only way to do that now is do this. So I'm currently building up the courage to go ahead and do it.

Unless that promised Gingerbread update comes through...

Welcome to AC. Rooting is a powerfull tool, so be sure you read throughly before diving in head first. By reading the ROM's and Hacks sub forum of the Optimus S you will stear clear of the major bumps.
