So the Nexus moniker for phones stops at 'Nexus 5'?

Seeing as how the number represents the screen size, I can see them calling the next one Nexus 5. But honestly I don't see them going to 6" anytime soon. Maybe the 6th generation might have a 5.2" screen, at most.

So here is what I think will happen to the names:

• 2012: Nexus 4
• 2013: Nexus 5
• 2014: new Nexus 5 (2014)
• 2015: new Nexus 5 (2015)

I think they will drop the numbers all together and use either letters or nothing except nexus.

The next phone after the Nexus 5 (name confirmed) could still be the Nexus 6 as it will be the sixth Nexus phone. After the Nexus 4 came out, and we had the 7 and the 10, people said that the next phone would be the Nexus 5. I then stated that the recent naming scheme related to the size of the screen and the next Nexus after the 4 would not be guaranteed to be called the Nexus 5 unless it had a 5 inch screen. I was then berated by the inhabitants of that forum thread that the phone was named the Nexus 4 because it was the fourth Nexus phone. I will have to wait one more year to see if I was right since this Nexus phone is the fifth phone in the series and it has an almost 5 inch screen.

The Nexus 4 was released AFTER the Nexus 7 and 10. They started a new naming structure at that point - they wouldn't deliberately high-jack the naming structure a month after creating a new one. The 4 fits with a ~4 in device, as does the 5, as does the 7, as does the 10, as does the new HP Chromebook 11 (actually a 11.6 in device). Clearly they're going after the device size in the naming scheme. They're not going to deliberately violate the naming scheme a year from now and release a Nexus 6 that is a 5 in device, especially if they ever plan to make a phablet. Since the new Nexus 7 was called 'Nexus 7 (2013)' I find it hard to believe they're not going to do the same with subsequent Nexus devices.

The Nexus 4 was the fourth nexus phone, the 5 will be the fifth... That's tidier in my brain so I'm keepin it. But I hope they don't call a device the Nexus 6... I don't want my phone to go insane and try to kill me!

Nexus 6 would start a slippery slope if you ask me. After the Nexus 5 they should either stick with updating only the year like the other devices or move to an all new system (which is entirely possible since it will likely be made by a new manufacturer).

I wish Google would have made the Nexus 5 have a 5 inch screen on the dot, and not half a mm smaller, that would have put all the naming convention chatter to rest I think (being called the Nexus 5 when technically it doesn't have a 5" screen). The probably decided to keep it a hair under 5" to make the device sound smaller and appeal to a larger audience. I think next year it will have a slightly larger screen (maybe 5.2 like the G2) and it will be called Nexus 5 (2014).

If the phone is a numerical progression, then it could be the Nexus 6. After they moved to what I thought was a size based number, someone told me that the Nexus phones were named 4 and 5 because they were they 4th and 5th phones. If that is correct, which I don't think it is, then the next phone could be the Nexus 6. Otherwise, it would be a very large phone. The Nexus 5 (2014) or New Nexus 5 is more likely.

I just think that it is amusing that what I was attacked for saying, is now true and those that attacked me (not you) are now echoing what I was saying back then.
