Okay so I have 6 lines on my verizon plan. Im not the primary line but I think I can get the $100 discount or something. Anyway, my line is up 8/17/10. Do you think If I called verizon and tell them that ive been with them since 1992 and that im willing to upgrade one of my lines to the smart phone plan and that im willing to sign another two year contract that they would bump my line up to 7/15/10? I know other people have been successful at this but I dont know who to call or anything.

I don't think you'll have a problem. Other people here have done similar things. You may need to call two or three times though to get a good rep.

Okay so even though im not the primary line can I still get the discount? Im not sure how any of that works. I just heard people saying if they moved there plan up to 7/15/10 then you could get a $100 discount.

They're probably referring to their NewEvery2 or NE2 upgrade, which I think is $80/$50 for old plans, and $50/$30 for new plans.

I fall into this category, however I confirmed with my rep that I will be receiving a $100 discount on the X :D

And to the OP, this $100 discount ONLY applies to the primary line. Secondary lines can get new phones at the 2 year contract rate only, so you'll be paying $299 - 100MIR like any other new customer.

Good point; yes, this only applies to Primary Line accounts.

Aw that stinks I thought that you could get the discount on any line. So I guess theres no difference in me calling verizon then since there offering a deal to upgrade your line within the year anyway.

If you are in at least 20months of your current contract they will upgrade you early and just change your contract date to 7/15/10 or whatever.

That is what I'm doing since my upgrade date is 8/25/10.. and I'm going to do a 1yr contract or buy it outright depending on the price difference, I'm sick of contracts.

So I just talked to Verizon and they told me that if I go into the store and upgrade to the Droid x its okay to upgrade early, that the $30 activiation fee would be waved and that they would give me an instant rebate at the store meaning instead of me paying $300 they will just make me pay $200. Good customer service.
