Tell me again how all of you apple nerds prefer a smaller phone anyway and that those big android phones won't even fit in your pockets as good as your perfectly sized small iphone

Different leaders of Apple showing different styles. Tim Cook obviously sees something in the hybrid arena, that Samsung has dominated. I have seen several threads over the past year that people shifted form the iPhone due to size as one reason. Android may lose those users, but I have seen a fair number of threads saying people will go back now that Apple has increased the screen size.

I am honestly glad that Apple has released a hybrid. It gives Apple users a choice.

You know I think it would be smart for Apple to release a small phone (like the 5s) in addition to a bigger phone, and give the same specs
I think that would be the best for them, as it makes everyone happy

The only thing I was bummed about for Apple last year was the release of the 5C. I thought that was going to be a budget device to get them into countries in South America and such. I think a budget phone ($250 full price) is still a good idea for them.

It seems Apple needs to loosen up on the "one phone for all" stance.

There was more variation starting with the 5 series by allowing the C option and the choice of body color on the S... This is just extending that trend. Look for a 6C coming down the road and a 6S with color options for the case.

The Borg approach is played out for them...

That thought has crossed my mind, but I don't know how well it would work

Same thing might have been said before Samsung released the Note 1. You don't know until you try.

All the iPhone 6 plus is, just a big iPhone.

The note takes advantage of being big, spen MultiWindow. And more

That's a good point

I agree on Apple venturing into a more budget friendly device. As huge of a culture that Apple and iPhone's are, you would think they'd venture into a more budget friendly device. Put something in the $100 or $150 range.. Cut out a few of the high end perks like the fingerprint scanner or other gimmicks and give the important qualities that Apple is known for at a friendly price. My daughter loves iPhone's but same time we keep telling her were not going to continue to upgrade her to the next latest and greatest when we have to pay more than a comparable featured Android model.

In some ways I look at it as Apple defining what culture of people can afford and use their products with higher costs. Not the smartest business approach in my book.

Don't say that on iMore, I proposed Apple do a budget phone and was argued into submission. They were outright hostile to my idea of getting more people on iPhones through cheaper models.

I'm not sure what kind of phone apple could make with a price of $100, or $250 for that matter
But who knows, maybe they will.

You have to ask the question of why can Android and its OEM's do it then? Apple isn't bringing any STELLAR technology to the table that Android and its OEMs haven't or can't do for cheaper. So that leaves you with the impression that they are overcharging on all fronts from R & D, marketing and all other areas to make more off their product. Not to mention many internals inside an iPhone in the past was Samsung parts ;)

Yes they wanted a bigger phone all along even when they said its to big. They never had a choice before because Apple wouldn't make a bigger phone so they had to be happy with whatever Apple made. Even my parents, who previously looked at my Note 3 and said that is to big for a phone, are purchasing two iPhone 6 plus's through AT&T. I find it extremely funny. Now its okay to have a big display because Apple made a big phone.

And then there's that one guy with the Nokia 1100

Well, traditionally, Apple has always looked at lower priced phones with a kind of smug, elitist derision.... Jobs demanded it.

But Jobs also hated large screen phones...and look how that turned out.

Lower priced devices is more about opening up emerging markets than it is about cheap people. Phones like the Moto G and E, as well as less expensive units from Chinese marks... They put these things in the hands of people who may not even make in a year what it would cost to buy an iPhone, or M8...and the world is better for that.

I suspect that Apple's attitude towards lower end phones might change...

Oh, I'm sure they could do something. But it would force them to sacrifice a little of their precious profit margin they like to boast about all the time.

Leaves me with?

That's the impression I had from day one through now and it never wavered. Especially after sampling some of their wares just to see what the fuss was about (nothing but hot air, according to my trial).

Hence the name iPhone 6 Plus.

The Note series is not the same as the Galaxy series even though they look the same except for the sizes. Different internals and displays.

What should they have name the iPhone 6 Plus? iPhone 6 Largest? The iPhone 6 and 6 Plus have the same internals. Only difference is the display and camera.
