soft reset how to

My incredible sometimes likes to lock up. I was wondering how to do a soft reset. The phone does not respond to anything I try. I used to own an iPhone and you held the hone button and lock buttons together another phone would reset. Looking for something similar.

a soft reset is turning the phone on and off (using the power button)

There is a button in settings to do a hard reset, in case you're interested.

I'm trying to trying to turn the phone off but the phone doesn't respond. It frozen. I don't want to have to pull the back off and pull thebattery to reset it.

unfortunately if it's locked up that bad then you have no other choice but to pull the battery. I had to do the same just a few moments ago after I took a random picture on mine.
