I seem to be able to find plenty of "how to" blogs, videos, forums etc....... Yet every single one has DEAD links to the software needed to fix this VERY annoying issue.

Can someone point me in the direction of exactly what I need to do, what I need to download and where in god's name I can find active pages with real software that I need..... Im ready to friggin explode here.

I have odin, I need something called a "pit" file?????? and a "pda" file??????

I don't care to do anything fancy I just want the friggin phone to work again.

This should give you ec05 which is a release of Froyo or Android 2.2.
All you have to do is boot your phone into download mode (Hold 1 and power until the samsung logo comes up and let go)

Make sure you have odin 1.85 (any version of odin works, but newer is better) open and put the download file(the tar file from the link) into the pda section on the right side. On the left side make sure you dont have anything checked except for auto-reboot.

Now connect your phone(which should be in download mode) to the pc. If you have drivers installed and your cable is in good shape, a yellow com box should appear with a number next to it Like this [COM 21].

If that works press start wait about 5 min and phone should be back to normal.

Only issue you could run into is a bad download, a bad usb cable(the stock samsung cable sucks), try different usb ports, or you dont have drivers installed. Also Good luck.

To clarify, the .pit file is only needed if you need to re-partition the phone (say, after switching to CM7 and wanting to go back to stock). The .pda file, is the same as the TAR file posted above.

If you follow the directions in the sticky about repairing a bricked phone, you'll be in good shape. Cables and drivers are a pain to get working, but be persistent and you'll be OK in the end.

To clarify further, you must use the pit file and re-partition if coming back to stock from "any" MTD based ROM. Otherwise the pit file is generally not needed.
