software update tonight?

nada. no update here in Queens, NY.

and ive been jumping around from rarely some 4G, mostly 3G, sometimes 1x, and even no data at all..

this is getting really annoying. i work under a building with a giant billboard of Verizon 4G LTE blah blah blah. you would of thought they would have the area covered. but i do get consistent 4G back in my apt about 5 blocks away.

Updating Roaming

With my BB I did the *228 > #2 to update my roaming about once a month.

Do I still do this with the T-Bolt?

I thought I saw something that says you don't do the *228 > #2 with an android phone

Ive read rumors that Verizon has disabled the ability to *228 with our bolts. The reason we dont have to do *228 anymore on our phones is due to how the sim card works. It will automatically update the PRL and thats what you did *228 for.

You are correct. When you dial *228 on a T-Bolt, it will disconnect. When we activate TB, it just provisions on the sim card.

That is what it is SUPPOSED to do, but in rare occasions it does not from what I read and it messes up the phone. DO NOT do this on a TB

this is like the crackberry website. Everyone spreads rumors about updates. I hope this site does not end up like it. All BS.

I wasn't spreading a rumor, it was just a lie that customer service told me to maybe not deal with me.

a PRL update will update signals from local towers. every time you go to a different area, you need to update your PRL to be in sync with the local towers

That's exactly what happens on Crackberry... after a while you learn that 95% of the time the rep either does not know what hey are talking about (old or inaccurate info in their computers) or is talking out of their derriere's so as not to deal with you.

After a while you learn not to believe that crap until the PDF file is on the support web page for the phone (or someone posts a screen cap from the update screen) and of a rep does tell you that you certainly don't spread it for fear of being flamed by disbelieving users.

I know it was said earlier in this thread but it bears saying again:

DO NOT attempt a manual update on a TB however as this could mess up uour phone. They are pushed out to LTE devices.

All I know is... I'm really sick of this BS. The wife and I both had Droid X' and were pretty happy with the signal. The X had it's own data issues, granted, but the TBolt is really getting under my skin.
I also installed an expensive repeater kit to boost the signal in the house... When my phone is next to the repeater antenna I can get a signal of around -20db... which is about as strong as it gets. However, the TBolt can be swimming in this excellent reception and still show no data connection at all, or 1x only.

I have tried all the tricks listed on the Android sites, they are all effective for short bursts of time, but in the end the phone loses signal inexplicably. We got rid of our Droid X' for this?!?!? Oy vay ismir!!!

And can Verizon lend us a little hint of what's going on and a timeline for fixing the issue? Apparently not. I have $1600 worth of Thunderbolt in my house, and it feels more like $1600 worth of Tundrabolt.

I had connection issues initially but the #778 fixed the problem. Unfortunately this also turn off simultaneous voice and data. Hopefully we'll get an update soon, I just hope I won't have problems getting an OTA update from verizon since I rooted my phone.
