Software way to fix jammed, broke Spen sensor? Youtube

Just saw this on youtube. This guy claims he jammed his spen in backwards and shows it not working but he goes into settings and turns off Spen sensor and then he shows the spen functioning after doing this.

So how does this fix the problem of the sensor being broke inside? He claims you don't have to take the phone apart if you fix it this way.

Btw does anyone know what case he has on his note? I really dig it. It has a kickstand built in and looks to have a very hefty lip for screen protection as well. I wouldn't mind having one.

Looks like a seidio case. They sell them At best buy under the platinum logo as well.

The kickstand is bigger on that one though and it is thicker at the top.
