Hi Folks,
I am in the process of buying a new Droid phone.
I just love the ONE.
It looks so gorgeous!

Can I have some awesome reasons not to buy S4.
The only 2 reasons that look appealing to me for S4 are:
1. Scrolling pages without touching
2. Higher Antutu Score

The only pros for me are Looks of One and may be Beats audio. I have audiophile headphones though, that is not much of a concern for me.
Thanks for your time appreciate it :)

PS - I Have Sony Xperia Arc S right now and it is slow as hell!

Well I can tell you right away that this phone is faster than anything you'll have owned before... And honestly there will be no big difference in speed between the S4 and the One!

The fact that you are going to be using "audiophile" headphones means that the quality of the input that is driving those headphones is going to be even more important than if you were using cheap earbuds. And I can tell you that the Beats audio works exceptionally well with quality headphones. I know the Beats headphones are kinda a gimmick but the "Beats" audio in the HTC One really means that that the internal digital amplifier is powerful and will do your headphones justice. I'm not sure how the headphone audio quality will compare to the GS4 but compared to my GSII the One blows it away and is a main reason why I got this phone.

Thanks folks, @Sam Nelson .. Pretty solid answer!

I wonder if octa core in S4 would be of any use..?? Are they making phones or High-end servers these days? Duh!

Very true ^

With the s4 you get expandable memory, removable battery, larger screen (nice small bezels around the display) and slightly newer version of android among other things.

But like Danny illuded to, they both should be awesome and the best phone you've ever owned

I think they both have very similar performance, at least such that you'd notice but you have to ask yourself which you'd like to own more... which is more desirable? In my case, and seeing the S4 basically looks and feels the same as the S3, and having seen the One and fallen for it immediately... the choice was easy. ;)

I think you just have to choose one of these phones and roll with it. Either way you get a great phone ;)

Some people care about things like aesthetics especial when it comes to premium phones. Then there are others that see objects like tools and couldn't care less as long as it does the job. IMO the Samsung's don't offer much in that dept. and the One does... very much. It's a shame Samsung re-used the same design, fit and finish. That's something SOME people will take into consideration.

Sometimes it depends from what phone you are coming from. Recently, I went from the S3 to the Nexus 4. The Nexus 4 has made me reevaluate non swappable battery and fixed memory.... and the build of that phone is solid. Yes. The S4 is a solid competitor to the HTC One. But having played with the One at AT&T and having a Nexus 4, maaaan, the One is a sexy beast.

I just switched to the HTC ONE from the GS3. The biggest turn off for me was the dim screen on the Galaxy. I read that the GS4 will improve on this but not by much. On the other hand the screen on my ONE is the best on the market and I've seen a huge improvement in screen brightness! Outside on a sunny day is no longer a problem for me. Other pluses for me were: better color reproduction, easy wireless transfer tool for music/photos ect., far better design, awesome and fun camera features and i like the new "blinkfeed" home screen option.

This is the exact reason i went with HTC phones over samsung the S3/note2 screens are not for me,but everyone has different needs in a phone.

Antutu score tells you nothing about real world performance. I haven't quite figured out why someone would buy a phone with a touch screen wouldn't want to f***ing touch it. I know there's a little more added functionality to the feature, but still. Anyhow. I would simply advise you to go to your carrier and try them both out. Bring your headphones with you to see how each handles that sort of thing. Play with them both, and make your decision from there. The people on this forum, in regards to an opinion based thread like this, will either be 1. Extremely bias to whichever brand they prefer or 2. Have completely different needs/expectations than you, and thus won't be much help in your choice anyway.

TLDR: Go try them for yourself.

Reasons to choose the One over the S4:
1) BoomSound. The name is ridiculous, but these speakers are out of this world. And the Beats audio is excellent, through the speakers and headphones.
2) Screen. The new AMOLED screen on the S4 is obviously beautiful, but it's still pentile and a bit lower PPI due to the larger screen size. LCD displays are just superior.
3) Design. Not just because it's aluminum, but because it's just sleeker and fits in the hand perfectly. It's also much more eye appealing.
4) Sense 5. I hate the look of Touchwiz. Sure it adds a lot of gestures and stuff, but it's SO childish looking. It reminds me of a fisher price toy really.
5) Storage for Price Ratio. The One & S4 are both $199 on contract, but the One comes with 32GB of storage while the S4 is only 16GB.

Other than these 5 points, both phones are pretty evenly matched, and the choice goes based on what OS skin you prefer, and if you want a metal or plastic phone. Can't go wrong with either really, but I personally think the HTC One is MUCH more appealing, and why I bought one on Friday.

1) much much better audio. Both through the speakers and headset jack.
2) crisper and arguably a better screen. 468 vs 441 ppi and LCD screens do have better color reproduction vs amoled plus better visibility in light.
3) looks! Sure it's kinda subjective but the one is damn sharp looking.
4) better low light camera
5) more internal storage
6) benchmarks =/= real world performance as results can be fudged with software tweaks.

What is the easy "wireless transfer tool" you are referring to? I just got my One 2 days ago coming from iPhones so I'm still learning.

I totally agree with JoshieMSU. People are looking for different things when they want to purchase a phone. I would suggest that you wait until both are released and compare them to see which is better for you. I pre-ordered and purchased an HTC ONE without considering the S4 because of the $100. trade in program along with the fact that the specs and reviews of the HTC ONE met my needs. If HTC had not offered the trade in program I probably would have waited to compare the two phones. Since I am with Sprint, another factor in my decision would have been the fact that Sprint is charging $250. for the S4.

As Joshie said, when you ask for this type of opinion on these forums you will get responses back from people with different needs and some people who have loyalties to different companies.

For what it's worth, the salesman at Best Buy today said that he was trained on the S4 and was not that impressed because it was just like the S3 and many of the new software improvements weren't necessary for him. He told me I was making a good decision. In any case, I would suggest waiting until they are both available and trying them both out a store.

Good luck in making your decision. You probably can't go wrong in either case.

And HTC was offering the $100 rebate so the phone only cost me $99 as opposed to $199

Each are great phones I guess it would just be a preference choice.

Htc One- better feeling phone, screen, loud speakers, beats audio if u like it and better camera.

Samsung g4 - bigger screen, expandable memory, removable battery, better software features.

The screen ppi is such an indisputable difference. They're both amazing screens. The processors in each phone are both overkill so each should handle everything thrown at them for the new few years. Memory can be a deal breaker but both have a good amount.

For me beats audio is a turn off. So id go with samsung. I couldnt dispite each spec from another in real life other than bragging rights.
