Solved - Galaxy S5 Contacts Wont Link

Been lurking on this (and other) forums trying to figure out the incredibly annoying issue of S5 device contacts not linking/merging with any other account contact (ie, facebook google+ etc). If you are trying to link multiple contacts, get a success message but see no change (basically the device contact stays unaltered), it seems that there is a bug when either two contacts have an exact same field, or when contacts have been loaded initially they are in some write protected state. Edit your device contact and change the name (ie, to [name]2) then try to link again, works like a charm. Had been super frustrating, hth others in the same boat. -m

i cannot merge 2 contacts with different names, says contact is linked but it does nothing.

It works but that is ridiculously annoying
