I and my wife both have Note 2's. She also has the Note 10.1.
If I turn on file sharing on my Note 2, and share all videos, then start up the video player on her Note 2 and click 'Nearby Devices', she can see all the videos on my Note 2 and play any of them, but starting up the video app on the Note 10.1 and clicking on 'Nearby Devices', it sees my phone but no videos at all. The Note 10.1 is in my Note 2's 'allowed devices'.

Anyone have similar results?

Thanks,

-bob

I would also like to add that the Note 10.1 can see all photos and music and stream the music, no problem.
I also ran this test using my wife's Note2 as the shared device. Same result.

Try copying a video from your note 2 to the tablet and seeing if it plays, or you get a "unsupported error".

Ok, so here is what I did tonight.
I connected the Note 10.1 with the Note2 via Wi-Fi Direct. I pushed two videos from the Note2 to the 10.1.
Both videos played flawlessly on the Note10.1. One was a mp4 music video, the other an old 3gp movie I shot with my old DroidX. Both about 3 minutes long.
I then deleted both those original videos from the Note2, and then pushed them back from the Note10.1 to the Note2. Verified they both played on the Note2.
I then disconnected wi-fi direct. Then turned on file sharing on the Note2. Made sure I was sharing videos as well as music and photos.
Went into the video player on the 10.1 and tapped nearby devices. Found the Note2 right away. Said there were no videos to select.
I then closed video player and started up Gallery. Scan for nearby devices, select the note2, can see the photos and music, but says there are no videos.
I think it's a bug, at least in my wife's Note10.1.
Can anyone duplicate this issue?

thanks,

SOLVED!

Here is what I did.
Manage Apps: All apps, selected Video Player. Cleared the cache, and forced stop. Went back out and started up the video player and now it sees all videos in the nearby devices...
