After getting an update some apps will not work on mobile data but work on Wi-Fi, where as the were working just fine before. I did some searching online and tried a few of the things and one got it back to how it was. Don't ask what I did cause I don't remember.
So the next day I was using 2 of the apps that were not working on the mobile network after the update and later I went back to use them again and once again not working on mobile data but works on Wi-Fi . Any idea what could be going on?
Thanks

Welcome to Android Central forums. Did you by chance restart the phone between the time it worked and the time when it stopped working? This might indicate a setting reverting after a restart or something. The reason I bring this up is because it sounds a little like these apps have been excluded from mobile network use. Many times users do this when they are limited on mobile data. No one wants to run out of data just for checking Facebook or Instagram while they're at the grocery so they restrict the app's network access to avoid this. See if this list helps you solve the issue.

If apps on your Moto G Stylus are unable to access mobile data, even when mobile data is enabled, there are several troubleshooting steps to try. First, ensure mobile data is turned on in your device settings. You can also try toggling it off and on again to refresh the connection. Additionally, check if specific apps have restrictions on background data usage. Resetting network settings or restarting the phone can also resolve temporary glitches. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7]
Here's a more detailed breakdown of troubleshooting steps:
1. Verify Mobile Data is Enabled: [2, 3, 8]

  • Go to Settings > Network & internet > Internet and ensure Mobile data is toggled on. [2, 2, 8, 8]
  • If it's on, try toggling it off and then back on again. [3, 3]
2. Check App-Specific Data Usage Settings:
  • Go to Settings > Apps & notifications > See all apps (or similar, depending on your device version). [4, 4, 9]
  • Select the app that's having trouble accessing data. [4, 4, 5, 5]
  • Go to Mobile data & Wi-Fi (or similar). [4, 4]
  • Ensure that Background data is enabled and that there are no restrictions on its use. [4, 4, 5, 5]
3. Restart Your Phone:
  • A simple restart can resolve temporary software glitches that might be preventing data access.
  • To force restart, hold down the power button and the volume up button simultaneously until the screen goes black, according to T-Mobile. [1, 7]
4. Reset Network Settings:
  • Go to Settings > System > Advanced > Reset options.
  • Select Reset Wi-Fi, mobile & Bluetooth or Reset network settings.
  • This will reset your Wi-Fi, mobile data, and Bluetooth settings to their defaults. [6, 10]
  • You'll need to reconnect to Wi-Fi and cellular data after the reset.
5. Check for Updates:
  • Make sure your phone's software is up to date by going to Settings > System > System updates.
  • Also, check for updates for individual apps in the Google Play Store.
6. Check APN Settings:
  • If you're still having trouble, you can try resetting or adjusting your APN (Access Point Name) settings.
  • Go to Settings > Network & internet > SIMs & Mobile network (or similar).
  • Tap on your SIM card and then Access Point Names.
  • You can either reset to default or edit the existing APN settings. [12]
7. Consider Data Roaming:
  • If you're traveling or using your phone in an area where your carrier doesn't have a strong signal, you might need to enable data roaming.
  • Go to Settings > Network & internet > SIMs & Mobile network (or similar) and find the data roaming settings.
  • Enable data roaming, but be aware that it may incur additional charges depending on your plan.
By systematically working through these steps, you should be able to identify and resolve the issue of your Moto G Stylus apps not accessing mobile data. [1, 7]

Since this appeared to happen after an update I wonder if it's a bug from the update. Many times clearing the Partition Cache for the device fixes these update bugs. Try the following and see if the issue clears up. You may have to do a combination of this and the above steps, so this and then those afterwards.

Steps to Clear Cache Partition:
  1. 1. Power off the phone:
Ensure your Moto G Stylus is completely turned off.
  2. 2. Enter Recovery Mode:
Press and hold the Volume Down button and the Power button simultaneously until the device powers on and you see the Android robot with a red exclamation mark.
  3. 3. Navigate to "wipe cache partition":
Use the Volume buttons to scroll to the "wipe cache partition" option. Then, press the Power button to select it.
  4. 4. Confirm and Reboot:
After the process is complete, "Reboot system now" will be highlighted. Press the Power button to select it and restart your phone.

Let us know what you find.

I would recommend trying the Reset Network Settings that VidJunky suggested.
So tried a few things and nothing worked yet. So I always try one of the apps in different areas seeing if it was the location but it never works. I'm sitting in the same place I'm always in and it didn't work a half hour later I tried it again and now the apps are working without changing any settings. I don't get it

I am guessing an intermittent issue with your local mobile transmitter.
