Android Central Question

So the new update installed on my phone and my tablet last night, and now several apps won't connect to the internet (others will and my internet is fine). I tried hard rebooting, and the date and time thing is not an issue. Has anyone else experienced this or does anyone know what I can do to fix it? Or is this something that the app developers need to fix (some security incompatibility or something)

What phone and tablet are you using? "The update" isn't very descriptive - WHICH update? So, only some apps won't connect? Are they the same apps on both devices?

Sorry, I'm the OP, it didn't tell me to make a username so I didn't when I posted the question. So I have a Xiaomi Redmi S2 and a Samsung Tab A. I don't really know exactly what the update was, or how to find that out - everything looks different so I assume it was an android OS update that happened last night. I googled it and it looks like there was some security update but there are physical changes to the UI as well.

Welcome to Android Central! Did both devices get a system version upgrade? What version are they on?

What happens when you try to use the apps in question? Does it say there's no connection? Have you tried rebooting your router by unplugging its power for 30 seconds? Also, does this happen on your Xiaomi phone on mobile data?

Hi, welcome to AC!

Your concern with Xiaomi Redmi S2 update?

Do you have the ability to clear cache on this phone in recovery?

The Android version says 9 PKQ1.181203 and the MIUI (that's Xiaomi's OS?) version is 12.0.2. My tablet isn't a Xiaomi it's a Samsung and I'm having this issue on both devices, so I assume it isn't Xiaomi specifically.

To answer B Diddy, what happens is that it just doesn't load - the app tells me I have a connection error and it behaves the same way it would if there were no internet connection, like the splash screen for a game will hang at 50% loaded which is what it'll do if it gets no connection. This is only happening with certain apps, for example Clash Royale, HASFit, basically random apps. I did reboot the router and this didn't help.

Hey I'm having the same problem after installing the update. Any ideas on how to fix yet? Thank you

Welcome.

The OP did not respond to B. Diddy’s last question, but members are permitted to send Private Messages to one another should you wish to do that.

Another way of attempting to hail a member is to mention their username, which I’ll do for you, thus: @riordain.

Hey I'm the OP (thank you to whoever pinged me), IIRC this actually just sort of fixed itself on its own. I don't really remember if I did anything specific but I don't think so - I had assumed it something on the developers' end that they were aware of and fixed. But as someone else mentioned, Facebook apps (FB, IG, Whatsapp) are all having problems today. My issue was NOTHING would connect, like literally nothing. But yeah it did just fix itself.
