Making the leap to Android after using an iPhone can be intimidating. After all, you have been living in the walled garden that is Apple for a while now.
Android is what iPhone would be if iPhone's parents left for the weekend and iPhone could do whatever it pleased.
These are just a few things I have noticed using the Droid Incredible.
1. Yeah, push it: In my experience, GMail sync features have worked better for Android than MobileMe did on iPhone. The contact list in your GMail account syncs with your android phone, and then your facebook contacts can be linked to the GMail contacts. On the downside, that facebook guy from High School you have not seen in 20 years, his number may show up in your contacts and if you accidentally press that button you might be in for an awkward conversation. You don't have to add the facebook links, but I found it is nice to have contact pictures in the contacts. Calendar pushes too, and had been working reliably for me as well. The best part. GMail is free, MobileMe requires a yearly fee.
2. Google Voice: The web interface version of Google Voice that the iPhone is forced to use because Apple wont allow the actual app is adequate for text message management. The actual Google Voice App offers so much more. You can set it up to be the primary in and out number for all your calls, and take full advantage of Google Voice.
3. Go away, I am busy: Ever been using an app on the iPhone and gotten interrupted with a notification you really didn't need to know about. Android has you covered. You get a bar across the top of the screen that discreetly shows you a brief notification. It is like being handed a note, versus being paged overhead.
4. Enjoy the tunes without iTunes: iTunes has become a great source to purchase media, but it isn't the only one out there and others are cheaper, MP3 Fiesta comes to mind. You can drag and drop Media on your SD card, or across the USB from any source you want, and don't have to rely on iTunes any longer. You can still use iTunes if you love it that much, just drag and drop the songs onto your Android Device.
5. Beam me up, Scotty: QR scanning to download apps. See an app you like online, scan the code and it is on the way to your Android Phone. Easy.
These are just a few of my favorite features. I am sure that if you ask around others will have some favorites too. Of course not everyone has the same advice, if you ask 100 people, you will get 100 different answers. The great thing about the forum format is the depth of collective knowledge in the collective. Have fun exploring your new Android Phone, and better get that old iPhone on eBay before the new model devalues your old iPhone and you have to take less money.
