Some new phone questions...

I'm going from a rooted ICS Samsung Fascinate to a Nexus tomorrow, and I'm going to be rooting right away. Here's a few questions though...

- Since I'm going from an sd card to a phone without an sd card, what does that look like for the files on my card? Could I just throw them on the hard drive of the phone and have it find them (as long as they're in the same location)?

- Would my backup made through "MyBackup Root" work to restore the apps? My buddy thinks "no" to the apps, but questionable to the data once I've installed all the apps again.

- What about ICS settings backup / Apex backup?

I'm sure I've got a few more questions rolling around up there, but let's start with those. Thanks for any help you guys could provide!!!

As fair as going from a phone withan sd to no sd i just madd the switch from my tbolt to the nexus even though the nexus does not have an sd card the file system is set up the same you should be able to drag and drop stuff in the correct folders or just dump it right on the phone and it should find all the files. And for app backup i would use Titanium backup and you should be all set

Also, when you plug your nexus into the computer, the only storage you are going to be able to acces is the "SD Card" storage. Its pretty much drag and drop from one to the other, no big deal.

As far as app data, I second titanium.

as far as ROM settings backup, I would suggest against that. You are going to a new phone with different hardware. Your best bet is to start from scratch. Thankfully it shouldnt be THAT inconvenient since you will have apps and app data already backed up and good to go.

Make sure you unlock the phone before you start copying stuff to the virtual sd card. Unlocking will wipe everything.

Google is getting better about auto downloading all the apps associated with your gmail account. Any that don't auto install after you get logged in, you could try restoring them from your backup program (assuming you've copied the backup directory to your GN). Just DON"T try restoring any system data. I'd go for trying one app at a time for a few and see how it works out. For me, Titanium Backup is the best.

Don't restore ROM / System data, ever, period. TiBu works fine restoring apps and app (user) data from one phone to another (worked fine from my bionic to the nexus at least). Don't know about Mybackup but I imagine it would be ok.

Apex launcher's backup should also be fine to restore.

ROM data is a major no no always, without question. System data DIES when you switch or update ROM's, don't ever try to restore it. Especially going from one phone to another, completely different phone, LDO.
