Some numbers won't work on keypad?

I'm having trouble trying to respond to calls where I have to "press 1 for ..., press 2 for..." Most of the time when I press "1", nothing happens. The screen will go black and I end up pressing all over the screen to make it come back on. If I keep pressing and pressing it will usually work but only after I have pressed another number on the pad.

What am I missing?????

Is you phone plugged into the PC while this is occurring?

When I had the problem this morning I was not plugged into my PC.
