Some ROM help

I have a question that I need some help with. I just purchased a Captivate from ebay. It came and works great but there are a couple of things I would like help on. The phone came rooted and was running launcher pro and no touchwiz. I can live with the w/o tw but I really love Swype but it does not work. Seems like when I swype my finger it leaves a trace but no words show up... it is like the dictionary is not present. Is there a way to make Swype work?

It's probably running a custom ROM. Go into settings>about phone. Does it show you running a ROM?

It says that it is running cognition 3.04

Try switching to whatever other keyboard there is, reboot, and then switch back and see. If that still doesn;t work, I would try loading the beta at beta.swype.com. You need to sign up, and once you do that, go to the website with your phone to get the install app. Then you run the app.

Depending on your feelings about flashing a ROM, that would probably be the 'best' solution; flashing the new Cognition for example.

most custom roms' swype expired a few days ago. flash the latest version of cognition and it'll probably fix it, or look for the swype fix for cognition to flash.
