someone said the set my phone back to default and lost contacts

My issue is a person at work was trying to find out why my phone would not hook up to Fb or yahoo, and she said she set it back to factory settings?? I have pictures but that is it, I know nothing about phones , and I lost all my contacts. Is there a place where it stores everything or can I set it back to before she made this change?? My google account does not exist as I tried to access it and makes me start a new one. Any and all answers are greatly appreciated, and if you could provide step by step instructions please.

Is there an alternative email account you store your contacts? If so you can transfer what I believe is an esv (?) file from that account to your new gmail account and then sync from your device.
