this is something huge to me. has this been discussed. i know the DHD and DZ both have it in europe. i thought it was a function of sense 2.5 exclusively for HTC phones. i hope it gets this. i live and work primarily in remote areas where signal is quite often absent. i would love cached maps!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

well htc has also marketed with there sense 2.0. all the videos hyping the new devices talks about not having signal an waitin for map to load.

either way, its there. an its great

Ahh, somehow I missed that. It might be a more advanced feature of caching then, because I know Maps by default only caches places you've already been. So maybe this introduces pre-caching.

The new Sense is definitely a huge step forward, I really like what HTC has done with it. I'm just hoping that it doesn't bog down resources and battery like it has been known to do from time to time in the past.

Lol.. I just assumed everyone knew it was there already. Sorry I didn't bring it up before.

Anyways it comes with preloaded map packs. So we could assume in the US it will come with preloaded US maps. which means it will never need to use internet connection to use, at all. However As far as I know it has several "premium" features which you must pay a monthy fee for. Maybe Verizon has said no to all of that though?

The nice thing about the how htc did the built in sense 2.0 navigator is that when you click on an address in your contacts or on the internet, it will ask if you want to navigate to it with google maps or with the built program.

Well my understanding is everything with sense will be on phone. Htcsense.com tho won't be ready at launch. Buri hear it wont be for alot of phones. Only thing I'm wondering is if you run launcher pro will this disable the features of sense like the ring louder if in a bag. Or flip phone over to silent.

yes it also. an also has places of intrest. traffic updates. basically its a gps.

i cant find all of the details but i have seen something about it

hm wonder if it would be worth paying for over google nav..... probably not.

thanks for the info

htc takes tons of support behind ther products. while moto does accessories an promotion. samsung well they dont do updates lol

The difference is sense pre caches the maps were as Google maps is a post cache but if I weren't on VZW or were using my phone for a cross country trip I could see the use bit other than that I'll stick with the free Google maps

if i can get unlimited data i wont care lol. ill try both. but in those rare little towns with no or very slow coverage ill take the those pre cached maps
