Sony M4 Aqua: annoying lags?

Hello,

So about 6 months ago I bought the Sony M4 Aqua (released 2015) for about 300$ and was really excited about it. But since the beginning the phone was lagging. I thought it was normal but over time the phone's lag increased. It's really annoying to use that phone now.

Sometimes when I press the "back" button it doesn't work, and after 2 - 3 seconds it's getting auto pressed 10 times. Sam thing the home button. Scrolling is awful. It scrolls and suddenly stops and continues. 2D/3D apps are lagging too.

I don't have any apps except the basic (Adobe Reader, Viber, Messenger and a calculator I downloaded). I tried resetting the phone to default settings but the lags kept appearing.

Well I did test it with Safe Mode, lags keep appearing. The funny part is that this is the second phone that I have absolutely the same issues. My friend has M2 and has very smooth experience. And as far as I know, the M2 is with worse specs than my M4.

Could be a problem with the firmware, or perhaps some inherent bug in the hardware.

A friend of mine is suggesting me installing a custom rom but I need to root the device first. But I'm not sure if the guarantee will keep working if I rom the device?
