Sony Xperia XY Premium VS Samsung Galaxy S8 full review

I bought the Sony earlier this summer and I loved the size and form factor, but I soon realized how much I missed having the fingerprint reader and also missed having separate volume controls for ringtone/system/notifications etc. Also, and most importantly, the Sony does NOT support WiFi calling and that was a deal breaker for me.

So I ended up returning the Sony and getting the unlocked S8 and the S8 blows the Sony away and it's cheaper as well.

This is incorrect. Carriers use a custom ROM to enable WiFi calling for their network or use an app. It's not the best way but it enable carriers to maintain control.

This is mostly an Android issue as Apple seems to have bypassed this problem.

The unlocked Axon 7 and S8 I bought from Best Buy over the last couple of years both had wi-fi calling built in. Neither were tied to a carrier.

How does it blow it away please?

See my notes above. Great form factor for sure, but lacking key components for me. No wi-fi calling, no fingerprint scanner, lacking more detailed volume control features.

Had the Sony had all those item, I'd still be using it. Sadly Sony doesn't offer them so I felt it wasn't worth the cost of keeping.

The S8 has all the above features and many more and makes for a more pleasant user experience.
