Ay new news on the Z that was show classed at CES. looks good but Dony doesn't seem to popular on the site.

Just that it looks like an amazing phone and I'm ordering a purple on for my wife.

The PocketNow reviewer on YouTube noted the Z is completely enclosed in glass -- every surface, even the sides have Corning Gorilla glass coverage.

That coverage is just for the waterproof functionality, is that correct?

The glass helps with it being the water resistant, but it could be made of a different material. Glass all around looks good. It resists water because all of the ports are normally closed and it doesn't let water in.

There is a member on XDA who many seem to hold in high respect to Sony news. He posted that AT&T will not be picking up the Z this spring but will have a Sony flagship this fall which makes sense with the Xperia T coming out just this November.

AT&T had a lot of big releases in November the Nokia 920, Samsung Note II, HTC one X+ and the Sony Xperia that was tied in with the 007 Sky Fall movie. Along with the HTC Windows 8 phone and maybe even the LG quad core phone.

I'm not familiar with Sony's marketing style really but I wonder why then the Sony US mobile site says "coming soon" for both the Z and ZL. My contract with Verizon is up and the isolated town I will be working in for a while just put up an ATT tower.........the only service in that town. These Sony phones and the timing of my VW contract seemed like a match made in heaven. I'm bummed by your post. I have an S3 and have been nothing but impressed except for the AMOLED screen.....I can't deal with it. I have an eye for the accurate and I just can't stand the contrast......I guess that leaves me with a new LG????

I am hoping that I am wrong and trying to see if anyone has any other info. Maybe the other carriers will be picking it up but AT&T seemed to have the most phones from Sony.

There is a version C6606 that supports AT&T LTE ...so maybe we can read something into that.

The guy on XDA says you can directly buy the phone from Sony and it will support AT&T LTE, but cannot buy it directly from AT&T (along with a reduced price).

anyone hear anything about Sprint getting this ? ( although I would still lean towards the GS IV )

Sprints not getting the Z, I don't believe Sony has any incentive to make a CDMA version. Sprint has their HTC flagship and the iPhone, they don't need the Z

Don't think Sprint has ever carried anything from Sony.

It kills me that I want this phone so bad but I am forced to switch to ATT as soon as possible and also I'm not very patient when it comes to my electronics. When the new "batch" comes out I'm gonna buy one. My gut tells me here in the US we're getting an unlocked only phone and it's gonna be after the rest of the world has gotten their demand satisfied. All I want is battery, storage (preferablly removable SD) and a screen that not AMOLED.

You can buy the HSPA+ model of the Z by the beginning of March, you don't necessarily need to wait for the US launch.

Crap, was genuinely considering picking one up. Looks like a really solid device. I'm stuck with at&t though...
