I'm new to smartphones and I decided to get the Charge as my first one, I was going to get the Galaxy S2 seeing as it's a better phone in nearly ever way but I can't wait much longer and Verizon just loves to keep us in the dark on release dates.

I'll be getting the Charge in about 3 days and I plan to root the phone within the first week, only reason being is I just want to remove the bloatware and speed up the phone(I've had the enV Touch for 2 dam years and this thing is so sluggish, just can't deal with another slow phone for 2 years haha). Only thing is, I don't know much about rooting since, as I've said, this is my first smartphone, so I came to these forums looking for some help and I'm learning a lot but I still have no clue how to root my Charge when I get it in a few days but I've got nothing but time, nice to meet everyone :]

Great questions. I don't have a terrible amount of authority on the subject, however, i too just bought my first android and it was the charge. After much deliberation and tired of waiting for another phone to come out i went ahead and got the best of the current market. I may switch later depending on the awesomeness of the bionic or the S2 if 4g.

I rooted my phone the night i got it. I couldnt stand samsung overlay and much rather preferred...ANYTHING else. I wanted the HTC sense 3.0 but i dont think we can yet. I run gummycharged with the overclock kernel from penutbutta jelly time...or something. Let me tell you this is OUTSTANDING. Quad scores aer about 1500+ post clocking to 1400 but i didnt run it prior. After OC i do notice a substantial difference in speed...very good

I will keep hunting for HTC rom for the charge as i really like it. Else this is such a great device. I dropped the iphone after the long 4 years of having it. Not looking back. Welcome, brother. :)
