Soon to be New EVO 4g Guy What are Must have Apps :)
I am replacing my BB 8530
I use Exchange for Work e-mail
have a few personal accounts gmail and pop
So what would be the 1st must load apps?
free?
and paid?

Thank you all

Lol

All the really neat apps will need root access

Good file manager would be one of the firsts

Swype. If I could not have Swype on this phone, I would return it...

Well, the current software version on the EVO does have Swype and even if it didn't Swype is in open beta so you could just go over to their website and sign up for it.

Back to the must have apps:

Pandora (especially good if you already have an online account and can use your pre-made stations)
Vlingo (very good voice command app)
ES File Explorer (good file manager with the ability to use Windows shared folders, very convenient)

coming from a BB (Tour) myself, I had a major complaint that I couldn't have separate ring tones for 1 contact - ie 1 for calls, 1 for texts. So my first advice is Handcent for your text messages, very customizable and solved that complaint I had, and then some.

As far as considerations - I have Lookout Mobile Security (virus protection), QR Droid for scanning codes, and Firefox for a browser

Of course being a Hockey fan, NHL Center Ice is a must have (Go Sabres!)

Hope these help

Dave

TuneIn Radio is fantastic

A bar code scanner. I like ShopSavvy but, there are others. Try some, you'll find one you like.

Google Docs
Handcent
Pandora
Uninstaller
1-Tap Cache Cleaner
Ringdroid
White Noise (I use the Lite Version) It WORKS!

Hello, Android Central app! Also Gorilla Bob is a fun one. Chrome to Phone, Red Box, Tune In Radio, PicSay photo editor and Handcent Messaging. If you are a huge nerd like me you should check out Wolfram Alpha:mad:

i picked up wolfram alpha app thru the Amazon App store....it is a sweet app!!

Amazon App Store is definitely a must! you can get a paid app for free everyday!
Pandora
Swype or SwiftKey: both are awesome keyboards...much better than the stock one!

SPB Shell 3D app •> one of the best UI to use if you decide that you need a 3D effect launcher. Ps. (It's a little bit more than most app, but it's worth every penny spent).

AppBrain •> use appbrain to find some of the most popular apps on the market.

Pluse has more eye candy than google reader

Pulse is a pretty news reader but with only twenty feeds available its quite useless.

Must have for me that I haven't seen yet:

Droid TV - Only program I've found that will download a show. Limited selection is only drawback.

ScreenShot It - Works without being rooted.

FYI, Shoot Me has been working on the EVO without root access for a few months now.

Only has my EVO since Christmas. Didn't really look for a screen shot program for a while after that. I know it doesn't work with all unrooted phones, have a friend with a Droid X and it doesn't work on that.

How come you didnt want a littit longer n get the 3D? That is what I am doing now.

Be sure you root it and get thether working.

Then maybe get Trillian.

Then perhaps got free time, get two of those non-data GPS programs. I got over 30+ apps, just no Android phone.
