Just saw the new specs and info for the Samsung Galaxy S Pro... I am "ON BOARD" with that bad boy, and "Jumping Ship" before I could even get off the DOCK for the EVO.

No buyers remorse here... I guess I will be holding on to my my old Trusty Dusty Touch Pro 2, until they release the Galaxy S Pro... the only thing it doesn't have, that hte EVO has is the HDMI out... and the 4.3 inch screen..but honestly, 4 inches is almost just as good, and the AMOLED is even better... built-in 8 gigs or 16 gigs of storage is the "below the Belt-line" punch to many other phones... Yes, Touch-wiz might not be the best... but MAN o MAN, all of the features and a hardware keyboard make up for that.

I am sorry guys... I put my name on the EVO waiting lists, on 2 different lists in 2 different cities, last Monday, and have not received any word yet... it is sort of frustrating... and it looks like the TRUE iphone killer is here...

Its been real fellas...

I don't like AMOLED, mostly because I like using the phone outside.

Welcome to Android anyway, we're all family here! :p

The Galaxy is Super AMOLED, which is supposed to be more luminescent and less reflective.

I'm fine with the Evo and hate sliders, but I can see the appeal of the physical keyboard for some people.

HDMI and 4.3" screen are the biggest deal breakers. you really dont know how effective a 4.3" screen is till you browse on it daily and experience it for yourself.

untill you type on the Evo keyboard then i wouldn't judge it. i would take it over a physical keyboard any day because of its size and responsiveness. physical keyboards just aren't as easy to be swift with. and you can keep your built in storage. i like the option to remove my storage for taking my phone in for service or just moving it around. and screen size? once you have used the 4.3 inches of screen you look at every other phone like it's a toy.

now it does't hurt to try both and i enourage you to do a side by side when you can. i knew a lot of folks who defected from the moment to go to the hero.

The only reason I would miss a physical keyboard is for gaming. And I do miss it dearly for that. But the phone is just too amazing in every other regard.

I agree about surfing the Web ... The screen is just amazing for that ... I hardly ever used the internet on my pre but now I do constantly everyday ... And am having a better experience using different browsers to do so ... If I continued to look and the next 'Best' thing coming out I would want to jump ship left and right ... But I found a babe that i am loving and am happy with our relationship ... lol

This is the biggest issue the Evo faces right now, IMO. If more were available at launch, there would-be less second guessing. It's easy to give up on and move from a phone you don't physically have in your hand.

As for me, there is nothing on the market or in the pipeline that makes me regret my choice or even make me think of switching.

Good luck, OP. You don't know what you're missing.

I detect a lot of bitterness in that OP. So you didn't get the Evo yet . . . doesn't mean the Evo's bad. In fact, I believe that says the opposite. The Galaxy looks nice, but smaller, lower resolution camera, T-Mobile, slider - things some people don't like. And it's not an iPhone killer. Nothing is an iPhone killer. The iPhone dies when the iPhone user switches phones.

So I gotta ask: What was the point of this thread?

Well fellas, I did play with the EVO...
It was nice... really nice...
4.3 inches is of screen is not that big of a LEAP above 4.0 inches of screen... honestly, when you are coming from 3.5 on the TP2...

And to the guy who talked about removable memory...
The Galaxy Series of phones have Built-in memory (8 or 16gb) and MICROSD...
So you get the best of both worlds...
To me, the Galaxy S Pro will bridge the gap between the Iphone 4 and the Evo 4... LOL...

To the guy comparing the Keyboards... the Galaxy S Pro will have hardware keyboard and software\swype keyboard.

Pros:

Same Super fast SPEEDY GPU and CPU as the Iphone 4 (think of all of those barely ported games that run a tick or tock slower on the EVO 4 than they do on the Iphone 3gs).

Plasma like color vibrancy (might not be better in direct sunlight... who knows)...

respectable 720p video recording... (I have seen videos created by hte Omnia i8910 HD...at 24fps... those videos look better than the EVO 4's current videos(.

4G

Cons: No 8 megapixels... (but the 5mp camera will still blow holes in the EVO's camera, if you look around for some Omnia i8910 HD photos, they KILL many of the other cameras out there).

No HDMI out (but if you have a nice Samsung TV with wireless DLNA, you are golden)...

Not easily rootable or "Romable" (this is the BIGGEST Slap in theface to the Android community).

No Kick stand...lol...

I am sorry fellas, but the report is that the Galaxy S Pro will be released for T-mobile and Sprint... (which is needed)...

You have those big Beautiful EVO 4 screens... go take a look at the Galaxy S Pro leaked info that hit Engadget and Androidcommunity a few hours ago...

Word is, the Samsung Android phones can't do over the air updates. Not sure if true with Galaxy but check into it. A WiMAX site claims Galaxy has a 4G chip capable of 12Mbps - EVO seems to top out around 8Mbps.

What I like about EVO screen is that it takes up about 90% of the surface real estate of the phone. Am surprised that with most new phones (even iPhone 4), the screen is only about 70-80% of phone surface. Lots of blank framing around it.

Android rocks, EVO or otherwise. The Galaxy S looks awesome. I'm hanging on to my EVO for two years, in some ways I can't wait to upgrade already! lol.

I need to see more of the Galaxy S Pro, particularly reviews, before I decide which is best. If the battery life is better, then that will push me one way or the other.
