Hey Guys,

I'm sorry if this is a dumb question and yes i have done my research in the forum and im still not sure... I'm also currently running Apex 1.4.1 and have been since it came out.

The other day the speaker on the top of the phone that you would put your ear up to started only producing very low volume. I checked all the settings and made sure that the in call volume was turned all the way up, which it was. I have also done a couple of battery pulls and used the reset function in apex by holding down the power button, but i have still been unsuccessful.

Basically i know at this point that its a hardware issue and i need to take the phone back to Verizon and i know that it has to be the standard blur rom to return it.

I know that i can flash back to the stock rom (which i would prefer not to do), but i also did a nandroid backup when i first rooted my phone. Can i flash back to the first nandroid i did and then factory reset my phone to get rid of the root functions and superuser permissions?

Also i know the market the back up the apps, but can i do a titanium backup of my current apps and re load it on another phone?

Like i said above i'm sorry if this is a dumb questions and i appreciate any help that is given. Thanks in advance

Do a nandroid of your setup that you have now, way better than just doing Titanium, so when you get your new phone all you have to do is root and flash the backup and your back w/ Apex like you where never gone. (save Rom manager, z4Root, Dx bootstrAp Apks to SD)

So once you done the above back up your SD to your computer.

The best thing to do about returning to stock is to SBF.

Food for thought. ;)

I would also clear some files off your SD card and put them on your computer. Even if the phone isn't rooted when you take it into the store, they can see drocap and TitaniumBackup files on your SD card and will know that at some point you rooted.

Ok, now i dont know what to do....i followed the instructions below, and nothing happened, the phone went into bootloader, said it was updating the software, but when the phone powered back up, nothing had changed, it was still the same system i was running with superuser, z4root, and other apps still there.....

is there something that i did wrong???

Instructions i followed:

- Unzip the sbf to a working/temp folder
- Open RSD Lite, tap the “…” button
- Select the SBF file that you just unzipped

a- Now we need to boot your phone into bootloader
b- With your phone Powered OFF do the following
c- HOLD the Volume Down Button + Camera Button + Power Button
d- You should see a small screen flash.. once u do release the buttons

- You should now see your phone in RSD Lite.
- You may need to click show devices in RSD Lite.
- Click the start button and allow your phone to flash the sbf
- Wait for the process to complete and then unplug your phone.

EDIT: I think i found out what happened...i'm normal good with electronics...kinda feel pathetic that i cant handle sbfing my phone haha....

I SBF'ed everything back to stock, wiped the SD card....verizon pulled my gmail purchase history and said since i downloaded rom manager they wont replace my phone :(

I played the dumb card and said i only downloaded it because it was one of the top downloads but i never used it....but the customer service lady said she doesn't have a place for people that break Verizon's rules and she wont replace it.....

guess ill have to use bluetooth all the time or add another line for a new phone...

Honestly, I think she just didn't want to deal with it. I have asked several different employees of Sprint, T-Mobile...etc. The only thing rooting voids is your manufacturers warrenty, not the insurance. A person at Sprint did tell me that it is against Asurion policy and they could refuse service, but if the speaker is blown they should replace it without question. As I'm sure you know, changing software doesn't affect things like the speaker. That's why we get insurance in the first place, so if something beyond our control breaks we can get replaced. My EVO's back speaker started going out right after I rooted it and I thought I had did something. Took it to Sprint after making the phone look as stock as possible, played a song so they could hear it and they fixed it without hesitation because I have the full insurance. The Guy did mention that he couldn't get my SD card to mount and I told him you just have to mount it sometimes...lol. ;-) Best suggestion, go to one of your local 3rd party retailers that offer repairs and use them. Usually are a bit more friendly and out to help you since they are the ones who own that store and not the company. :-)
