When phone is connected to the cars bluetooth phone acts like its vibration only. All sounds are not muted, I'm a little baffled. Anyone have any clues where to look?

Hi , have you unpair the vehicle and phone and restart phone and pair again?

Yeah this is my wife's phone that this is happening with, she had a s10 and it did it and now her note 10 plus is acting the same way. She didn't do a restore from old phone to new so it definitely isn't something that carried over.

Did you check your separate bt volume control? Go to Settings.
You referring to these settings?

Yes, and it's not looking like the issue.
As above was posted, forget the phone from the car, and forget the car from the phones bt. Clear the cache partition and reboot.
Repair the phone with the car.
Good luck

Ok so here is the deal since I had time to delve further into this. If she is connected to her car stereo but not streaming music she is getting no alerts. IF she is connected to her car stereo and IS streaming music she DOES get alerts. Also if she isn't connected to her car she gets alerts. So it's only if her phone connects and isn't streaming she gets no sounds.

Is this how it is supposed to be? Like I said my alerts go to my watch and I have done this for years now so I cant remember normal behavior of alerts while connected.

Can someone confirm this?

That's because the alerts and notifications are sent through the audio path or the same as music. The voice calls take a different path. You will have the same issue with voice navigation like Waze unless you explicitly set it to use the speaker on the phone.

This is pretty annoying that notification sounds don't play via phone speaker when connected to bluetooth. Never been this way with any other phone I've ever owned. This is a bug, not a design feature.

It has been this way forever. If you are connected for streaming and even if you aren't streaming you get no voice from the phone for maps or anything else. This is not a S10 feature. Its an android screwup.

It's one of the things I miss from my WP days. When connected in the car, the notifications and sound from the maps app were fed through the phone channel and not the streaming channel. Even though they didn't play on the phone, I at least heard them all the time.
