I like the spam notification function but the ringer volume is so low i don't even know a call is coming thru unless I'm holding the phone. Double checked ringer volume. Why is there a secondary ringer volume when spam assit is active?

By "internal setting," do you mean the slider in the Settings>Sound menu?

That's odd -- I'll have to pay closer attention on my 3 XL the next time I get a call marked as Potential Scam. When you were pressing the Volume button when the call was coming in, you're certain the slider that showed up was for Ringtones, and not Media, correct?

I missed a call that I was waiting for and never heard the phone ring, I dial from another phone and barely heard ringer, I pressed up volume rocker and it appeared volume was all the way up, then went into Sound through setting and saw volume showed it was reduced.

Ok, and this is the native scam call detection feature, and not a 3rd party app or service, right?

What happens if you change the default ringtone to something else, making sure it's a loud tone to begin with?

The ring tones on this phone are the wimpiest I've ever heard, so yep, tried them all, but, with the setting some how dropping won't let it be loud. For now I will check both ways to set volume, and try to see if there is something that might drop it and keep it dropped even if turned off. I use Do Not Disturb at times, but I checked that by turning on and then off, it didn't changed settings. Oh well, just have to check settings in mornings for a while.

Go on zedge.net (the website, not the app) and search for a nice loud ringtone there. Download it to the phone and use a file manager to move the file to the /Ringtones directory (or download it to your computer and transfer it to the phone via USB or Google Drive). Then see if that ringtone is much more audible.
