Speakerphone Microphone Quality.....

I periodically find when I am talking on the speakerphone, the caller repeatedly asks, "what?" Last night I asked if they are not hearing me, they said I am coming across as muffled. I checked to make sure I wasn't blocking the microphone which I wasn't. I am also guessing it isn't every call because most times the conversations go fine.

Is this an HTC Incredible thing, or just my phone?
