Wondering if anyone thinks about the placement of the speakers. I have had the Note line since #2. I also have the 10.1 tablet. I love how the speakers face me in the tablet. I like how HTC does the same thing. It does bother me the speaker still faces away from the screen on the 4 and the Edge. Am I the only one? Where would like the speakers to face?

Front, you're right. Having the mic and speakers on the bottom is a poorly thought-out (if there was any actual thinking going on) design choice.

I agree with your point but the main problem with phone speakers is low power and bad speakers.
My previous LG Motion 4G has a rear speaker but loud and clear, louder than Samsung S4 S5 and it does not change that much when flipped over.
My Alpha is a Exynos factory unlocked with a loud bottom firing speaker which is good , louder than AT@T qualcomm Alpha and the speaker radiates all over due to volume and fullness so side firing works.

If this had 2 speakers bottom and top edge it would rival HTC One M 8 .
So best is front facing 2nd best is side facing ( reduces bezels) and worst is back.
But Phones have been getting away with bad cheap speakers even on $600 models for a long time- starting to change now.
A speakerphone should be as loud as a person speaking in quiet to medium volume voice- very few are and HTC upped the Game.

Speaker on the bottom is fine and allows the sound to reflect from your hand when you hold the phone.

Yes. On the back. Where your hand is holding the phone. Cupping the speaker. So the sound can reflect from the palm of your hand.

I don't think Samsung will ever put speakers on the front

It just seems they are pretty set in the way they make phones. The note is already huge the way it is. Speakers would make the bezel even bigger.
