Question Specific apps slow on mobile data (Signal, NewPipe on Honor 90, Android 14)

Hello,

I have a problem with Signal and NewPipe apps while connected through mobile data only. Apps are slow, e.g. sending/receiving voice messages over Signal takes too long.

Everything works fine on WiFi. Other apps are quick. I tested my mobile data connection, and it shows more than 100 Mbps with a 25 ms lag.

Can anyone give me an idea of where the problem can be? It is very frustrating.

I think that these apps may use some specific Android components, and that's why neither of them works. Any idea on this?

I have no limitation on per-app mobile data use.

I appreciate any help you can provide.

Welcome to Android Central! Are you using a VPN while on mobile data?

Are you able to send voice messages using the stock messaging app? If so, does the same thing happen there?

I don't use VPN. I can send voice messages over WhatsApp. I am not even aware of possibility sending voice messages over stock messaging app, I use it for SMS only.
I tried reinstalling apps as well as restarting the device.

Who's your carrier? If this is an MVNO, then I would wonder if certain things are being throttled or de-prioritized. You may want to contact your carrier regardless to see if they're aware of any issues like this.
