Speech recognition not working with api 25 and up

[Android Central Question]

I have programmed an app that uses android speech recognition. It works perfectly with api 18 to api 24, with all kinds of simulators, but doesn't work with api 25 and up, neither on simulators nor on phones.

Has something changed with the speech recognition engine?
