at work 4G - 3,435kbps down......924kbps up

at work 3G - 373kbps down.......581kbps up

at home 3G - 704kbps down.....241kbps up

horrible 4G at home

Edit...forgot to add, this is Houston Medical Center for work. Home is about 40 miles north.

Honestly those 4g speeds are about what you should expect from real world. 5mbps is about all i've seen possible.

I haven't tested here in DC yet (waiting for a good healthy signal). I will be in Miami later this week (also 4G) so I should have a couple of data sets to report.

I sure hope it's better than what was reported above.

I live in St Paul MN. I was typically getting 5-8mbps with my Evo while at work. I tried it with my Nexus this morning and it was just below 2 down. Not much of a sample size to draw any conclusions so I'll have to keep playing around with it.

Home 4G (Palo Alto, CA) - No signal inside our apartment, despite being in the dark blue area of the coverage map)
Work 4G (Oakland, CA) - 3114 kbps down, 611 kbps up
Work 4G (Oakland, CA) - 3028 kbps down, 732 kbps up (repeat)
Work 3G (Oakland, CA) - 255 kbps down, 34 kbps up
Work 3G (Oakland, CA) - 845 kbps down, 41 kbps up (repeat)

Here in Baltimore MD:

Home: 4G: 3471 Kbps down 929 Kbps up
3G: 1010 Kbps down 504 Kbps up
Wireless: 9227 Kbps down 3746 Kbps up

I'm in new Brunswick NJ and my signal is noticeably weaker than what I had on my pre minus....anyone else noticing weaker signals on their nexus?

Sent from my Nexus S 4G using Tapatalk

Richmond, VA here. I had an HTC Hero prior to my NS4G and my signal was a lot stronger with the Hero than it is with the Nexus S. We're also supposed to have a 4G signal in the Richmond area and I'm not even able to get that. May be taking advantage of the 30 day return policy.

Dallas, TX

Has anyone done side by sides with one of the Evo's or Epic?

I've tested at work and home, side-by-side 4G speed tests - My Evo beats out the Nexus S every time but one. Fastest DL for Nexus S I have achieved was 4186 Kbps down, even though my Evo can reach 4000-6000 Kbps in the same spot. But on the flipside, 3G on the Nexus S works great. I've seen 1400-1700 Kbps on the Nexus S at home, but Evo is not even close...

Yep- my Evo is faster every time last test- 4G

Nexus 2138down 911up
Evo 9572down 2797up

Has me concerned

It's not your phones it's a screwed up PRL file. About 3 weeks ago Sprint released what should have been PRL 60678 but was actually numbered 01115, and phones with that PRL have been getting lower than normal speeds. I don't know what is messed up in the file. This should be fixed shortly, and then our new phones should fly! (Confirmed this with Sprint before typing this.)

Would the PRL affect the Wimax radio? I thought they were only applicable to the CDMA network.

Normally yes,but apparently this file's name is wrong (01115 instead of 60678), and somehow that is causing speed problems in the phones (not just Android phones). I suspect that since the file is named wrong, the phone won't access the data in the file so the phone thinks it has no PRL data. Just a guess.

977 down with 743 up. NY long island. About what I get here with the epic I had. Depending on the time Ive had it go over the 1000 marker.

If that's true then... someone could update their Evo's PRL and see how fast that is?

Edit: this link disagrees:

I also receive lower speeds and lower signal strengths.

With some phones you can force a PRL update, IE using some of the CDMA tools. But it requires the MSL to do so. There are also some related CDMA Drivers required. Wouldn't have the slightest idea with this beast.

I don't think the PRL has anything to do with speed while on the native network (Sprint) as the PRL and PRI aren't used until the phone cannot find the native network (roaming).

I think rather the phones would need a radio update to improve speeds while on the native network. That's my 2 pennies.
