I was reading about that today also. Way too complicated for me to bother with. Used to be very simple.

Bring up recent apps tap the icon on top of the card choose split screen then find another in the app drawer , not all are supported

When that app doesn't support it it will kick you out of split mode and gave to try another one

You can grab the tab n the middle between the 2 and pill up to into just that app on bottom or pull down to go tht all on top of just swipe up on the bottom bar
