Has anyone heard how to root the sprint htc hero 2.31.651.7 software update?

I have tried SuperOneClick 1.5 and & Androot. Why is rooting this latest update seem to be so difficult ?

Can anyone throw me a LIFELINE ?

You have to revert back to a rootable version before you can root because sprint has patched the exploit that allows you to root your phone with the version of the software you've got.

This root method worked for me after flashing the latest 2.31.651.7 RUU.

To revert back, do I have to do a HARD RESET on my Hero, or is there an easier way other than losing all the data in the phone ?

Back up all your data because the RUU when erase everything; no need to do a hard reset.
